Villa Vogue
The size and requirements of a contemporary house are often incompatible with the sparse, rocky landscape of Mykonos. In this building, detached at a remote location, the objective is for the human intervention to play along rather than compete with nature. At the northwestern end of Mykonos, on the road to Armenistis, the “Lighthouse of the Aegean”, lies a pair of twin beaches with oversize pebbles, “choulakia”, which lent their name to the surrounding area. This is the last hospitable piece of land on this part of the island; beyond, lies the territory of Aeolos. Reaching the second cobbled beach, a dirt road branching out of the seashore drive crawls up the steep western slopes gradually rising from within the ocean.
