Residence in Tourlos
The first one (Alexandros N. Tombazis Design Office), in collaboration with the owner, was the initiator of the original idea, a stone house characterized by strictly rectangular volumes.
The original idea was that the stonework would be plastered in such a way as to outline the relief of its surface. In the end, the view prevailed that the stonework should remain uncoated so that the volume of the house would not contrast sharply with the imposing stone landscape.
After a period of suspension of construction, the project was undertaken by Tessera Office. Maintaining the basic principles of the original concept and always in fruitful collaboration with the owner, the new designer attempted a new interpretation, staging an interior and exterior environment that gradually reveals its secrets and in which the user is in a constant dialogue with the built space and nature.
Compositionally, the house is developed linearly along the North-South axis, because this orientation was imposed by both the natural topography and the panoramic view to the West and the sea.
