The Memorial was commissioned by the Royal Air Force Association, Athens Branch and was constructed by the Hellenic Air Force. It was erected on the grounds of the Elefsis Air Force Base, to commemorate the British and Greek airman who were killed between 28/10/1940 and 31/5/1941, defending Greece during the early stage of WW II.
